Clifton is originally from South Africa where he studied from 1999 to 2002 at The International Hotel School Royal Hotel Durban in South Africa. He obtained there his Diploma in Culinary Arts HLMA and was graduated as the Top Chef. He worked as Sous Chef in Lyntonl Hall Restaurant, voted Top ten restaurants in South Africa in 2002 and 2003 and was Mentored by South Africa’s Leading Chef (Richard Carstens) moving after as Executive Chef at the Tala Game Reserve. Since that time, Clifton has been working in professional cooking for over 25 years.
He left South Africa at the age of 21 to settle in London, working in several prestigious Asian restaurants throughout the capital, among others, Cocoon – Sous Chef, Eight Over Eight -Head Chef, Buddha Bar – Head Chef, Ricker Restaurants – Consultant Chef for the group of 5 Restaurants, La Bodega Negra – Head Chef. Clifton moved to the north of England in 2015 to take the role as Head chef of Tattu Restaurant in Manchester & Leeds, returning to London in 2018 to join Novikov Brand working as Head chef in Novikov Restaurant & Bar London, Novikov Miami and Novikov Doha before taking the role as International Development Head Chef where he was directly involved along with Novikov Group Moscow in projects such as Novikov Bodrum Asian at Yalikavak Marina, Novikov Istanbul at Mandarin Hotel, Novikov Bodrum Italy at Yalikavak Marina, Novikov Jeddah, Novikov Riyadh, Novikov LA, Novikov Oasis Riyadh at Saudi Arabia.
Clifton joins the R.O.T. project with all the knowledge and expertise he has gained over the course of his long journey, in addition to his passion for cooking and drive to continue innovating and the creation of new dishes and concepts capable of satisfying the finest palates and guest’s expectations.
